# Notes on Becoming Larger

## A name with two meanings

Scaling is a word we use when something grows, and also when someone climbs. Both pictures ask for care. You cannot rush a ridge, and you cannot stretch a small truth until it tears. The name scaling.md sounds like a place for that care: not a stage, but a page, where size is thought about before it is chased.

## The hill behind the house

There is a path I walk when the year turns cold. In early November the leaves are mostly down, and the trail looks longer than it did in summer. Nothing about it is famous. What changes is my sense of the distance. The first time, I stop often. Later, the same bends feel familiar, and I notice smaller things: a fence post, a strip of frost, the way the light sits on the last field.

That is the kind of scaling I trust. Not a sudden height, but a path walked until it belongs to you. Work can grow the same way. A good idea starts as something you can explain to one person without raising your voice. If it still makes sense when ten people hear it, and then a hundred, it has earned its size.

## What to keep while growing

Before anything gets larger, it helps to name what must not be lost:

- The reason you began.
- The people the work is for.
- The right to pause.

On the eighth of November, 2026, that list feels enough. The world will keep asking for more. A quiet page can answer with proportion.
